Leeds Library/Post Office
A Space to connect those afar and near
a contemporary Client vision
This projects intention was to align design to the vision of the town office clerks from Leeds, Maine. They requested a public library sustainable to their towns needs and correlated to a post office.Â
I strived to use the surrounding buildings and mimic their structure, as the clients wanted the building to blend in with the town. Influenced by American rural institutional architecture, contemporary Craftsman, and Transitional vernacular.Â
Form rooted in the Landscape
A balance of design
The design features steep gabled roof forms, covered porches and deep overhangs. The low-to-mid-rise scale preserves a residential character, fitting the suburban/rural landscape.Â
